signal shift
Transforming organisations through embodied leadership and collaborative movement. The way people work together has never mattered more. Today's organisations face increasing complexity, rapid change and growing demands on communication, leadership and wellbeing. Yet many of the challenges they encounter are not problems of strategy but they are problems of connection. Trust. Communication. Psychological safety. Adaptability. Creativity. Collective confidence. Signal Shift is an innovative organisational development programme that helps teams strengthen these qualities through shared embodied experiences rather than traditional classroom learning. Developed by David McKenna following more than thirty years as a choreographer, educator and facilitator, Signal Shift combines movement, creativity and reflective dialogue to help people discover new ways of working together.
This isn't dance. It isn't performance.
It is an evidence-informed methodology that reveals how people communicate, collaborate and lead, often before a single word is spoken.
Why Embodied Learning?
Every organisation communicates through more than language. We respond to body language, attention, energy, rhythm, trust and presence every day, often without recognising it. Signal Shift makes these invisible dynamics visible. Through carefully structured movement experiences, participants discover how they respond to uncertainty, how leadership emerges, how trust is built and how collaboration develops under pressure. Rather than talking about communication, teams experience it. Rather than discussing leadership, they practise it. Rather than being told about psychological safety, they feel it. These embodied experiences create powerful moments of insight that transfer directly into everyday working life.
Our Approach
Every Signal Shift programme follows a carefully designed progression. Participants move from playful interaction to deeper collaboration, creative problem-solving and collective leadership.
Along the way they experience:
-
navigating complexity together
-
communicating without relying on words
-
building trust through shared challenges
-
recognising emotional intelligence in action
-
exploring multiple approaches to leadership
-
responding creatively to uncertainty
-
developing collective awareness
-
strengthening confidence and resilience
-
discovering how individual actions influence the wider system
Each practical experience is followed by facilitated reflection, enabling participants to connect what happened in the room with the realities of their workplace. The result is learning that is experienced rather than simply understood.

Why Signal Shift?
Traditional team development often focuses on changing what people think. Signal Shift focuses on changing how people relate. Because when relationships improve, communication improves.
When communication improves, trust grows. When trust grows, creativity flourishes. And when people feel connected, organisations become more resilient, innovative and human. Signal Shift doesn't teach people to move. It uses movement to help people discover how they work together and how they can work together better.
"The body often understands collaboration before the mind can explain it."
If your organisation is looking for a different way to develop leadership, strengthen teams and build a culture where people genuinely connect we'd love to start a conversation.
